NW Arkansas Fire Depts Practice Structure Fire

Residents in the West Springdale and Tontitown area woke to see black billowing smoke rise into the air as Firefighters from the Tontitown Fire Department and Johnson Fire Department trained Structure Fire tactics on an old, dilapidated home in Tontitown.

The property and house are owned by Georges Inc, a Springdale based, fourth generation, privately held company still led by the George family. George’s has grown into a thriving operation spanning multiple states with over 4,700 employees.

When the house was donated, both Fire agencies jumped at the chance to use the old home in a real life training fire for both their new recruits and seasoned Firefighters. Having control of the house fire allows members to take turns at different scenarios before lighting the entire home on fire, in this case to clear land for Georges Inc.

As the founder of Drones Over Arkansas and a past Firefighter, I found this to be a perfect chance to snap some aerial photos and video. UAV Drones have been instrumental in Public Safety in cases ranging from Search & Rescue, HazMat response, Firefighting Command as well as Law enforcement tactics.
