Above the Lake Village Welcome Center

While travelling thru South Arkansas you may find yourself at The Lake Village Welcome Center where you could pick up free copies of Arkansas Highway Maps, along with information about Arkansas Tourist Attractions and Arkansas’ own Westrock Coffee, restrooms, and water fountains.

The Lake Village Welcome Center sits at the state lines for Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. Lake Chicot, Arkansas’ largest natural lake stretching 3/4 miles wide and 21–22 miles long from end to end, forming a traditional “C” shape.

According to legend, Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto is buried in Lake Chicot. He died in 1542 during his expedition through the Southeast of North America.

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism operates Lake Chicot State Park on the northern end of the lake. At the state park visitors’ center, there are cabins for rent and camping spots. There is also a wildlife museum, featuring creatures found in and around Lake Chicot.

With permission by the Center’s Manager, we shot these beautiful aerial photos of the center.
