The Johnson Police Department in Northwest Arkansas will be hosting their first National Night Out event on August 6th. National Night Out is an annual, nationwide community-building campaign to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood relationships.

The event will be hosted at the city’s new Downtown Square that has been under development for the past 2 years. The new Square will have Businesses, Retail Shops and new Homes.

The Drone crew will offer “Drone Rides” to attendees, giving them a chance to have an aerial view of the new Johnson Square with DJI FPV Goggles. The pilot, Perry Auxier of Capture Crew llc is a FAA Part 107 certified Drone pilot, while DOA Founder, Matt Miller will serve as a Spotter responsible for Safety and Organization. The event requires an FAA Waiver due to the location’s proximity to a near by airport. This area is a FAA No Fly Zone and cannot be flown without a proper waiver.

Attendees will be able to sit in a chair and take a spin around the event and view the Johnson Square as if they themselves were flying above, inside the Drone.

“This is a new idea and option we want to offer people who are not FAMILIAR with drones. it’s really neat to watch people experience this”. – Say’s Auxier

The equipment to be used will be the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 and the DJI Mavic Pro, coupled with the DJI FPV Goggles. Onlookers will be able to view from a tethered Tablet monitor.

Drones Over Arkansas is no stranger to the city of Johnson as several members live in and around the area. Johnson happens to be home of one of the few FAA legal flying areas around a populated area in Northwest Arkansas.
