UAFS Police Add Drone Technology

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Police Department are taking to the skys.

UAFS Police Chief Ray Ottman said on Wednesday that the campus police will start using UAV Drones in their operations for the 2019-20 school year. Thee drone use will allow the University opportunities to incorporate the latest technology into their education, he said.

The UAFS Police part of a regional goal that includes multiple law enforcement agencies to have certified drone pilots, Ottman said. From this standpoint, he said, drones can provide perspective for large-scale events like vehicle pursuits and data analysis for events like car crashes.
